How to install IPTV on Android TV and Google TV
Android TV and Google TV are the easiest platforms for IPTV: the players are in Google Play, the remote-first interfaces are excellent and you can sign in with your Xtream details instead of handling long links. This guide covers Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense and Xiaomi TVs as well as Chromecast with Google TV, the Nvidia Shield and other Android boxes.

Before you start
- Your ZELVIX IPTV Xtream login (server address, username, password) or your M3U link.
- A Google account signed in on the TV or box so you can use Google Play.
- Android TV 9 or newer, or any Google TV device. Older Android boxes work too if Google Play opens.
- An Ethernet connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for 4K streams.
Which player app to use
All three players below are installed from Google Play on the TV itself, so there is nothing to sideload. We recommend TiviMate first for its programme guide and recording-style timeline; the other two are solid alternatives.
TiviMate
The reference player for television-style navigation: full-screen guide, channel groups, favourites and catch-up where the service provides it. Premium (multiple playlists, recording, extra layouts) is an optional purchase set by the developer.
OTT Navigator
Very flexible and fast, with many layout options and a good guide. The free version has everything needed for daily watching.
IPTV Smarters Pro
Simple login screen that takes the Xtream details directly, with separate sections for live TV, films and series. Store availability varies by country; if it is missing from Google Play in your region, use TiviMate or OTT Navigator.
Install TiviMate and sign in with your Xtream details
TiviMate is designed for a remote control and shows the programme guide the way a traditional TV does. With Xtream login the channel list, guide and video-on-demand sections load by themselves.
- Open Google Play on the TVFrom the home screen open Apps and then Google Play Store. Use the search field or the voice button on the remote to search for “TiviMate IPTV player” and select Install.
- Launch TiviMate and add a playlistOpen the app. On the welcome screen select Add playlist. You will see two options: M3U playlist and Xtream Codes login.
- Choose Xtream Codes loginSelect Xtream Codes login. Enter the server address exactly as we sent it, including http:// and the port number if there is one, then your username and password. Select Next.
- Let the lists loadTiviMate downloads the channel list, the film and series catalogue and the programme guide. On a large list this can take one to two minutes the first time. Select Next, keep the suggested options and select Done.
- Start watchingThe guide opens with live channels on the left and programmes to the right. Press OK on a channel to watch it, long-press to add it to favourites, and press Back to return to the guide.
- Optional: unlock PremiumIf you want several playlists, recording or extra layouts, open Settings and then Unlock Premium. Payment goes to the developer through Google Play; the free version is enough for watching live TV with a guide.
Other players that work
OTT Navigator
OTT Navigator is a good second choice if you prefer a denser interface with more customisation.
- Install OTT Navigator from Google Play and open it.
- Select Settings, then Playlist, and choose either URL (paste your M3U link) or Xtream Codes (enter server, username and password).
- Select Apply or Save. The channel list and guide load within a minute.
- Use the left-hand menu to switch between live TV, films, series and favourites.
IPTV Smarters Pro
Smarters has the simplest login screen, which many customers already know from their phones.
- Install IPTV Smarters Pro from Google Play if it appears in your country’s store, and open it.
- Select Add New User and then Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Type any name for the profile, then the username, password and server address we sent you. Select Add User.
- Choose Live TV, Movies or Series from the home screen. The programme guide is downloaded automatically with Xtream login.
Using an M3U link instead of Xtream login
All three players also accept an M3U link if that is what you received.
- In the playlist screen choose M3U playlist or URL instead of Xtream.
- Paste the link, using the remote’s on-screen keyboard or the Google TV phone app to type faster.
- If the guide is empty, add the EPG link we provide in the playlist’s EPG or XMLTV field.
- Save and let the list download.
If something does not work
Most first-time problems come from one of a handful of causes. Check these before contacting support, and tell us which step you were on if you still need help.
The login fails with “invalid credentials” or “server not found”
Check the server address character by character: it must include http:// and any port number, with no space at the end. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. If it still fails, ask support to confirm your details are active.
The list loads but many channels show a black screen
Open the app’s player settings and switch the decoder from hardware to software, or the reverse. Some chipsets handle one type better. Also confirm your plan’s number of connections is not already in use on another screen.
The programme guide is empty or shows the wrong times
Wait for the first full guide download, which can take a few minutes. If times are shifted, set the time zone in the app’s settings to match your location. With an M3U link, make sure the EPG link is filled in.
Video is sharp but stutters or buffers
Run a speed test on the TV itself. For 4K you need a steady 25 Mbps or more. Use Ethernet, switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and close other apps running in the background on the TV.
Questions about this device
What is the difference between Android TV and Google TV?
Google TV is the newer interface running on top of Android TV. Both use the same Google Play store and run the same apps, so every step in this guide applies to both.
Does this guide work on a Chromecast with Google TV?
Yes. Install the player from Google Play exactly as described. For the best picture connect the Chromecast’s power adapter with an Ethernet adapter, or place the router close by.
Can I use TiviMate on my phone?
No. TiviMate is designed for televisions and does not support touch screens. On an Android phone or tablet follow our Android phone guide, which recommends players built for touch.
Do I have to pay for TiviMate?
No. The free version plays live TV with a full guide. Premium is an optional purchase from the developer that adds features such as multiple playlists and recording.
Can I watch on the TV and my phone at the same time?
Only if your plan includes two or more devices. Each screen playing at the same time uses one of the connections in your plan.
