How to install IPTV on an Amazon Fire TV Stick
The Fire TV Stick is the most popular IPTV device in Europe because it is cheap and plugs into any HDMI port. Amazon’s Appstore has few IPTV players, so most people install one from the developer’s own download, which Fire OS allows once you switch on a setting. The whole process takes about ten minutes.

Before you start
- Your ZELVIX IPTV Xtream login or M3U link.
- A Fire TV Stick (any generation), Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max, or a Fire TV Cube, signed in to an Amazon account.
- The Fire TV Stick 4K Select released in 2025 runs Amazon’s new Vega OS and cannot install apps from outside the Appstore; see the FAQ below.
- A stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal, or the optional Ethernet adapter for 4K.
Which player app to use
Players for Fire TV are the same Android apps used on Android TV. Install them with the free Downloader app from Amazon’s Appstore, using the download link published by each app’s developer.
TiviMate
Our first choice on Fire TV: television-style guide, groups, favourites. Install via Downloader from the developer’s site. Premium, if wanted, is bought through the TiviMate Companion app on a phone.
IPTV Smarters Pro
Simple Xtream login and clear sections for live TV, films and series. Install via Downloader from the developer’s site.
Smart IPTV (SIPTV)
Useful if you already know it from a Samsung or LG TV. Same playlist upload on the developer’s website, activation per device after the trial.
Install a player with Downloader and sign in
Fire OS blocks apps from outside the Appstore until you enable Developer options for the Downloader app. This is a standard Fire TV setting used for many kinds of apps and does not void your warranty.
- Install Downloader from the AppstoreFrom the Fire TV home screen select Find, then Search, and type “Downloader”. Install the free app by AFTVnews with the orange icon. Avoid the paid look-alike apps with similar names.
- Enable Developer optionsGo to Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. Highlight the device name at the top and press Select on the remote seven times until the message “You are now a developer” appears. A new Developer options entry appears in My Fire TV.
- Allow Downloader to install appsOpen Developer options, select Install unknown apps and turn Downloader ON. On older Fire OS 5 and 6 devices the setting is instead called Apps from Unknown Sources; turn it ON.
- Download the playerOpen Downloader, allow the permissions it requests, and in the URL field type the download address of the player you chose, as published on the developer’s website. Our support can send you the current address. Select Go and wait for the download.
- Install and openWhen the download finishes, select Install, then Open. You can delete the downloaded file when Downloader offers to, to save storage on the stick.
- Sign in with your ZELVIX IPTV detailsIn TiviMate select Add playlist and then Xtream Codes login; in IPTV Smarters select Add New User and then Login with Xtream Codes API. Enter the server address, username and password we sent you, wait for the lists to load, and start watching.
- Find the app laterSideloaded apps are listed under Your Apps & Channels: press and hold the Home button, select Apps, and move the player to the front row for quick access.
Other players that work
Smart IPTV on Fire TV
If you prefer the Smart IPTV workflow you know from a TV, it installs the same way and is activated per device.
- Install the Smart IPTV build for Android via Downloader, or from the Amazon Appstore if it is listed in your country.
- Open the app and note the MAC address shown on screen.
- On a phone or computer, upload your M3U link on the developer’s My List page with that MAC address.
- Restart the app on the Fire TV; the channels appear. After 7 days, pay the developer’s one-time activation.
Typing long addresses faster
The Fire TV on-screen keyboard is slow for long links. Two shortcuts help.
- Install the Amazon Fire TV app on your phone, connect it to the stick and use the phone keyboard to type into any field.
- Or ask our support for a short link to the player download, which is quicker to type.
If something does not work
Most first-time problems come from one of a handful of causes. Check these before contacting support, and tell us which step you were on if you still need help.
Downloader says “Install blocked” or the Install button is grey
Install unknown apps is not switched on for Downloader. Go back to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps and turn Downloader ON. If Developer options is missing, repeat the seven presses on the device name.
The player disappears after an update or will not open
Since late 2025 Amazon can block apps it flags, and in early 2026 it extended this to the moment of installation. Generic players such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters were not reported as blocked at the time of writing, but if yours stops working, install one of the other players listed above and tell our support which one failed.
I cannot find Developer options
On recent Fire OS versions it is hidden until you press the device name seven times under Settings, My Fire TV, About. The first-generation Fire TV Stick shows it directly under Settings, Device.
Video buffers on a Fire TV Stick 4K
The stick’s Wi-Fi can be the bottleneck. Connect to 5 GHz, keep the stick away from the back of the TV with the supplied HDMI extender, or use the official Ethernet adapter. Also clear the cache of the player app under Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications.
Questions about this device
Does this work on the Fire TV Stick 4K Select?
No. The 4K Select released in 2025 runs Vega OS, which does not allow installing apps from outside Amazon’s Appstore. Use a Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Max, Fire TV Cube or an Android TV device instead.
Is sideloading legal and safe?
Installing an app from its developer’s own website is a normal feature of Fire OS that Amazon documents itself. Download players only from the developer’s official address, never from random mirror sites, and keep Install unknown apps switched on only for Downloader.
Do I need a VPN to use IPTV on Fire TV?
No. ZELVIX IPTV works over a normal home connection. We do not recommend any tool whose purpose is to bypass restrictions, and a VPN usually makes the picture worse by reducing speed.
Why is my player not in Amazon’s Appstore?
Amazon lists only a small number of IPTV players, and the list changes by country. Installing from the developer’s site with Downloader is the standard way to get the same apps that run on Android TV.
Can I use the Fire TV remote’s voice search inside the player?
Voice search works for finding and opening apps. Inside the player, use the app’s own search field; the remote keyboard or the Fire TV phone app makes typing quicker.
